In the last 30 years, Home Alone has become an annual staple for most people around the holidays. The film, which starred Macaulay Culkin in a breakout performance, was a big hit that spawned four sequels over the years. And now, we have our first look at the sixth installment of the franchise. What appears to be a sequel to the Kevin McCallister storyline (which was abandoned then re-imagined in the later sequels).
This time around, Max – played by Archie Yates, a breakout star of Taika Waititi’s dark comedy, JoJo Rabbit – is accidentally left at home as his family left for a trip to Japan. He has to thwart off a married couple that is attempting to break in to steal a priceless heirloom.
There’s a lot of great and familiar comedy faces present here including Pete Holmes, Aisling Bea, Ellie Kemper, Rob Delaney, Chris Parnell, Andy Daly, and Kenan Thompson. The script was co-written by Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell (bot of SNL) and was directed by Dan Mazer.
Home Sweet Home Alone hits Disney+ on November 12th.
