Comedian/writer Sabrina Jalees will be transitioning from the writing room to in front of the camera with her first leading role in a comedy series.

It was announced on Deadline that Jalees is set to star in Landing on the Peacock network.

Jalees, who created the series, will write and exec produce with Berlanti exec producing alongside David Madden and Sarah Schechter.

Landing is an ensemble comedy that follows a family of queer friends in their mid-20s living in Brooklyn trying to get somewhere and be someone before they’re priced out of their apartments and their dreams. Inspired by Jalees’ life, the comedy is about a group of young people all vying to make their mark — but for now, they’ll settle for making eye contact with the hot bartender.

Jalees, who wrote and served as an executive story editor on HBO Max’s millennial dramedy Search Party, has also co-produced Netflix’s Human Resources, Warner Bro.’ Harley Quinn and Apple’s Fraggle Rock reboot.

She can be seen as a judge on Roast Battle Canada and in Netflix’s The Comedy Lineup. She has also worked on NBC’s Crowded and Powerless, and appeared in Transparent, Adam Devine’s House Party and Best Week Ever

The daughter of a Swiss mother and a Pakistani father, she graduated from Earl Haig Secondary School, and later from the Radio and Television Arts program at Ryerson University in June 2007. She has made many Canadian media appearances, including as a commentator on MuchMusic’s Video on Trial, Stars On Trial and LOL. As a stand-up, Sabrina has toured North America, England, South Africa and played the prestigious Just For Laughs Festival several times.

Jalees came out as a lesbian and was shunned by her extended Muslim family, an experience she relates in her 2013 Canadian comedy tour, “Brownlisted.” Her wife, Shauna McCann, is a fashion designer. They have a son named Wolfie.
