Alex Kumin compares different types of IUDs and explains why she could never “accidentally” masturbate.

Alex Kumin’s bold and whip-smart standup delights crowds across the city of Chicago and around the US.  She is an alumnus of the nation’s longest-running independent standup comedy showcase, The Lincoln Lodge, through which she also teaches Chicago’s favorite all-female standup class, Feminine Comique.  Her monthly showcase, Diamond Comedy Hour, takes place at the Chicago Laugh Factory on the first Friday of the month, featuring the premiere female comedians in the city and beyond.

She has had the pleasure of working with Patton Oswalt, Maria Bamford, Tom Green, Rory Scovel, The Lucas Brothers, Aparna Nancherla, Greg Fitzsimmons, Jen Kirkman, and Todd Barry, among others and was selected as one of eight comedians at Gilda’s Laughfest – Best of the Midwest Competition 2017.  She made her television debut on WCIU’s “Chicago’s One Night Standup” and has appeared in NBC Universal’s Breakout Festival (’16, ’17, ‘18), Limestone Comedy Festival, Orlando Indie Comedy Fest and The Chicago Comedy Exposition.

In 2016 she has named a comic to watch by Timeout Chicago and was one of Chicago Reader’s standout comedians of the year.  She has been featured in Chicago Magazine as a comedian with “unapologetic honesty”, as she tackles heavy hitting social issues like gender inequality and thigh chaffing.

Half-hour stand-up specials have been a staple of the Comedy Central brand since the 90s. Even though the name of the TV show changed a few times and the airings have shifted online. Regardless, they are still alive and going strong.
Comedy Central Stand-Up Presents, formerly known as The Half Hour, is an American stand-up comedy television series that airs on Comedy Central in the United States. The program features various stand-up comedians in each episode. It replaced the similar program Comedy Central Presents in 2012.

Every episode features an up-and-coming comedian or sometimes a group performing an original set of stand-up. The first four seasons of the show where filmed at the Royale theatre in Boston, Massachusetts. Beginning with the fifth season, the comedians now perform their sets at the Civic Theatre in New Orleans, Louisiana. It was announced that a sixth season was picked up with 14 new stand-up comedians given their own set. It was also announced that the show will be retitled Comedy Central Stand-Up Presents.

The Half Hour shines a spotlight on some of the funniest and most unusual voices in stand-up comedy.
