Everyone has a great story to tell! On Do Tell! with Laugh After Dark, host Charlie Wilson gets stand-up comedians to share their stories from the stage and beyond, but the open-door policy (and convenient Vegas location), means that you never know who might drop in to tell their tale! Stories range from performing with the legends that inspired careers to the extreme, typically bizarre, and generally hilarious lengths people will go to for a chance to make it big in the city of broken dreams. Produced by Laugh After Dark & CSLA Podcasting, new podcast episodes are released every week on YouTube and all podcasting platforms.

In this week’s episode, Wilson is joined by Nikki Carr. The Las Vegas comedian explains to Wilson the unusual reason why she set out to be famous.

Nikki Carr was raised by a single mom who asked her daily why she was so silly all the time, but never told her to stop, thus setting the course for the successful stand-up comedy career she enjoys today.

Her trials and tribulations as a woman, mother, grandmother and lesbian have provided rich comic material for Carr, and she’s woven it all into fiercely funny performances. She has been entertaining audiences for 17 years at clubs, colleges and military bases all over the United States and the world, including Iraq, Bagdad, Kuwait, London and Germany.

Carr began her comedy career at age 34 at the New York Comedy Club and made her television debut on BET’s “Comic View” in 2000. She appeared in “One Mic Stand,” Charlie Murphy’s “Crash Comedy,” “Martin Lawrence Presents 1st Amendment Stand Up” and Showtime’s “Stand Up for Family.” Well known for her signature song “The Fat Girl’s National Anthem,” Carr has also appeared on “It’s Showtime at the Apollo.” In addition, Carr appeared in the independent films “Golddigger Killer,” “Change the Game” and “Ass Backwards.” The mother of four and grandmother of four is the daughter of jazz drummer Bruno Carr.
