Bill Burr will make stand-up history this summer when he becomes the first comedian to perform at Fenway Park.

The Canton native will bring his Bill Burr (Slight Return) Tour to the home of the Red Sox on Sunday, August 21.

Tickets for Burr’s show will go on sale starting Friday, April 22 at 10 a.m. through the Red Sox team website.

“I started doing stand-up in Boston 30 years ago,” Burr said in a press release. “Never imagined it would lead to Fenway. Kind of speechless, which is rare for a big mouth like me.”

Burr joins a loaded 2022 Fenway Park Concert Series lineup, which features acts like Paul McCartney, Lady Gaga, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bad Bunny, Zac Brown Band, and Aerosmith.

As of now, Burr’s Fenway stop is the only New England date for his current tour, which will travel across North America through Nov. 12.

Burr recently wrapped up his Netflix animated series F Is For Family, which ended after five seasons on Netflix in November 2021. Other recent credits for the comedian include the Disney Plus Star Wars series “The Mandalorian,” the Channing Tatum family film “Dog,” and a hosting stint on “Saturday Night Live.”

In between tour dates, Burr is currently filming “Old Dads,” a movie he’s writing, directing and starring in alongside Bobby Cannavale (“Ant-Man”), Bokeem Woodbine (“Spider-Man: Homecoming”), Katie Aselton (“Black Rock”), and Reign Edwards (“Snowfall”). “Old Dads” follows three friends who sell their company to a millennial and find themselves struggling to keep pace with the changing times and culture.
