How did you discover your passion for comedy:
My mother and I used to watch comedy specials on HBO on Saturday nights as a kid. I always wanted to make her laugh as much as the comics did.

What do you remember most about your first time performing stand-up comedy:
For my first show, I decided to produce and host a road feature. All I remember is how bad I performed and how I never want to feel like that again.

How would you describe your comedic style:
High Energy

Describe your process for comedic writing:
I don’t “write” anything. I take my life experiences and stories to open mics and try and figure out what works.

Describe the comedy scene in your area:
Flourishing! OG’s like Pete Munoz and Ato Walker really laid the foundation for comedy in San Jose/South Bay. You can perform every night in South Bay whether it is a booked gig or an open mic. The talent has always been here, but now there are more opportunities to shine.

How do you judge success in the world of comedy:
I don’t. If you are fortunate enough to grace the stage as a comic, then you are successful to me.

Who are some of your comedic peers that you enjoy watching perform or inspire you personally and professionally:
Avery Harmon, Aivy Cordova, Frankie Marcos, and Mark Smalls although it’s hard to call them peers since there are quite a few steps ahead of me.

What’s been your most memorable moment in comedy:
When Tony Sparks, Bay Area Legend, called me a headliner.

What have you learned most from your failures in comedy:
You are only as funny as your last set.

How do people react towards you when they realize that you can make people laugh:
If you have met me for more than 5 minutes, you know already.

Describe what it’s been like building a career in stand-up comedy:
Unfortunately, I’m not sure I am qualified to answer that. From what I have witnessed its about who you are on and off stage. You can be very funny on-stage, but if you are unprofessional or abrasive off-stage, you will not get very far.

If you could change one thing in the world of comedy, what would it be:
I’d like to see more community. Comedians lead a rough path to their goals, and more of us should help uplift the person next to us.

Best advice you’ve ever received from a comedian:
“Move the mic stand out of the way.” -Christina Walkinshaw. The second show I did, I pulled the mic and left the stand in the middle of the stage. I look at that advice deeper though. It showed me I need to be present and “in the room.”

If you were releasing a comedy special this week, what would it be called:
“Less is Moore”

Funniest encounter you’ve ever had with a celebrity:
I played poker against Rob Riggle once and beat him in a decent-sized pot. He playfully hit me on the shoulder and called me a “f*ck*r”.

Weirdest place you’ve ever performed any form of comedy:
Ruben Escobedo III and I ran a show on a minor league baseball field during the pandemic. By far the weirdest but most fun comedy experience.

A Brian Moore Fun Fact:
I make the best candied bacon in the world.

Where would you like your laughs to take you:
HBO Comedy Special for my mom.

What would you tell a potential comedian if they ask you how they can own the laughs:
So cliché, but BE YOURSELF.

What are your thoughts on the future of comedy:
Comedy is in a weird space with free speech being attacked daily. That said, funny always prevails.

If you could write one episode for one classic TV sitcom which show would it be and give a brief detailed sentence on the episode:
I’m no writer, but I would like to see the Cheers spinoff with Woody running his own spot.

If you could choose 1 comedy club and 3 comedians to perform with on your perfect comedy show, how would it go:
I would have to perform in my home at SJ Improv. Avery Harmon is the reason I do this, so he would be a must. Aivy Cordova has opened so many doors for me (and is FUNNY AF) so she would definitely make the line-up. For my headliner, I say Mark Smalls. Dude is the right at the precipice of greatness.

What’s next for Brian Moore:
I want to earn my way to being passed at a club. Every open mic’ers dream.

Why should a person always laugh at life:
Because it is all we have. When people ask me “How are you?” I always respond with ups and downs, smiles and frowns. We should feel all the feels everyday. Laugh, Cry, all of them.
