How did you discover your passion for comedy:
When I realized laughter is a defense mechanism.

What do you remember most about your first time performing stand-up comedy:
It was at an open mic in San Francisco called the BrainWash, a local laundroMat/cafe. I was nervous, and I kept saying “and Sh*t and Sh*t “ after every sentence, so I bombed; it was very humbling.

How would you describe your comedic style:
Sarcastic, laid back, and witty.

Describe your process for comedic writing:
I’m that guy at the park talking to myself, working out bits. I go down the alleys of funny options in my head to find out the punchline.

Describe the comedy scene in your area:
Las Vegas Comedy scene is strong; not only is there a big presence of working comedians, but there are also a ton of Named Comedy Clubs on and off the Strip. Las Vegas is a City of entertainment with a huge mixture of audience members from around the world.

Who are some of your comedic peers that you enjoy watching perform or inspire you personally and professionally:
George Wallace, Edwin San Juan, & Butch Bradley.

What’s been your most memorable moment in comedy:
Almost every night is memorable, but the most recent night that stands out is when an audience member said she was going to choke me out over a dirty joke about choking my ex during sex.

What have you learned most from your failures in comedy:
To be in the room, not in your head, let the funny flow, naturally and unnaturally.

How do people react towards you when they realize that you can make people laugh:
Mainly shocked, especially because I’m not really “ON” while I’m not on stage.

Describe what it’s been like building a career in stand-up comedy:
It’s not an overnight process, it’s mainly putting in the stage time, working and writing material, seeking opportunities, or creating them on your own.

If you could change one thing in the world of comedy, what would it be:
MORE PAY! and less of a famine mentality…

Best advice you’ve ever received from a comedian:
To command the room, if it’s not funny, make it interesting and read more books, not only about comedy but books that would expand the mind.

If you were releasing a comedy special this week, what would it be called:
Gabe Nolasco “Tacos Do Sound Good”

Funniest encounter you’ve ever had with a celebrity:
Hannibal Buress walks in and asks “Yo! who ate my Sandwich?!” I couldn’t say anything with my mouth full and a half bit Sandwich in my hand, and after a long pause, he says, “Nah, just joking help yourself”

Weirdest place you’ve ever performed any form of comedy:
I did stand up at a Sex Club no one paid any attention to my jokes that night.

A Gabe Nolasco Fun Fact:
My first name is Gabriel, and the common nickname is Gabby, but thanks to my older brother saying Gabby sounded a little too girly, he started calling me Bobby. Now to this day, my closest friends and family call me Bobby.

Where would you like your laughs to take you:
To make a living, to be able to create freely, and to travel to places worldwide just to make more people laugh.

What would you tell a potential comedian if they ask you how they can own the laughs:
Just give yourself room to fail, and learn from it. Don’t put yourself on the high horse; just let yourself be.

What are your thoughts on the future of comedy:
Well, I think it depends on how you are doing and where you’re going.

If you could choose one comedy club and three comedians to perform with on your perfect comedy show, how would it go:
I would pick the Punch Line in San Francisco, and I think the dream is the share the stage with Dave Chappelle, Dave Attell, and Louis CK; I would never be able to hang with the jokes, but man would it be a blessing to be amongst Legends.

What’s next for you:
I’m finally able to Travel, and hit more Comedy Clubs again; just keep busy.

Why should a person always laugh at life:
Because Laughter is the cure for everything, you can’t be sad, scared, or serious when you’re laughing.
