How did you discover your passion for comedy:
During grad school, I became interested in creative outlets and nothing stuck. I always had a knack for writing but never appreciated it. Once I discovered the local comedy scene I decided that when I graduated I would try an open mic.

What do you remember most about your first time performing stand-up comedy:
The one person that laughed, was not the person I expected to laugh at.

How would you describe your comedic style:
Hard to describe but a mix of biographical, authentic, silly bullshit.

Describe your process for comedic writing:
Make time to write, daily. Take written stuff to mics and workshops with riffing or writing on stage. Write with other comics to get feedback/tags/different perspectives.

Describe the comedy scene in your area:
Uhh, it’s very large. Not as daunting once you find where you fit in or prefer to be. There are many scenes within the overall LA scene, and many circles of comedians.

How do you judge success in the world of comedy:
When I figure that out lol I’ll let you know.

Who are some of your comedic peers that you enjoy watching perform or inspire you personally and professionally:
Diana Hong, Dee Ahmed, Curtis Taylor III, and Sarah Taylor

What’s been your most memorable moment in comedy:
Hmm.. just some of my sets at the Comedy Store and Hollywood Improv. One of my Reels on Instagram of a joke popped off and that’s been nice.

What have you learned most from your failures in comedy:
There’s always something I can be doing to learn and grow. Always. And Write it out!

How do people react towards you when they realize that you can make people laugh:
Honestly? Annoying AF bruh.

Describe what it’s been like building a career in stand-up comedy:
(Laughs) Another one of those where I’m not quite there since I still have a day job but so far I’ve used my day job to get me from Baltimore to LA, next will be cutting back hours to hopefully getting a manager and then becoming undeniably bookable. I think this would be a start to that, for sure.

If you could change one thing in the world of comedy, what would it be:
Normalize women in comedy.

Best advice you’ve ever received from a comedian:
*Don’t look at the ground.

*People know when you don’t even believe in your own joke.

If you were releasing a comedy special this week, what would it be called:
“Single Dog Mom” (Laughs) is so dumb. I haven’t thought of one, but that would be it.

Funniest encounter you’ve ever had with a celebrity:
One time Neal Brennan hugged me because he thought I was someone else, and he played it off very chill.

Weirdest place you’ve ever performed any form of comedy:
So many odd places man, a barn in West Virginia.

A Nicki Fuchs Fun Fact:
Originally from NorCal, all over from Sacramento to San Jose moved when I was 12 to Southern Maryland, but I spent most of my good years 18-31 in Baltimore.

Where would you like your laughs to take you:
World traveling comedian in clubs and theatres.

What would you tell a potential comedian if they ask you how they can own the laughs:
(Laughs) Do the work. Go watch local comedy, check out an open mic or two, and make sure the vibe is for you.

What are your thoughts on the future of comedy:
Hopefully, it just continues to positively expand so all these comics have an opportunity to be heard.

If you could write one episode for one classic TV sitcom which show would it be and give a brief detailed sentence on the episode:
Uh, this sounds like my worst nightmare haha I don’t know about classic TV shows but it would be cool to write an Episode of Russian Doll.

If you could choose 1 comedy club and 3 comedians to perform with on your perfect comedy show, how would it go:
Hollywood Improv
Pete Munoz, Alyssa Cowan, & Diana Hong.

What’s next for you:
Shows! And I am manifesting as a manager in my spare time????

Why should a person always laugh at life:
Because it’s the best feeling in the world.
