Every year, we all wait to see which of our favorite artists will snag a Grammy Award nomination. The comedy community is no different. Ever since 1960, comedy albums – and now specials – have been taking home Grammy’s.
Today, we learned the nominees for this year’s Best Comedy Album. They are:
Dave Chappelle – The Closer
Louis C.K. – Sorry
Patton Oswalt – We All Scream
Jim Gaffigan – Comedy Monster
Randy Rainbow – A Little Brains, A Little Talent
C.K. is the returning winner, after having won for Sincerely Louis C.K. earlier this year. He previously won in 2012 for Oh My God and 2016 for Live at Madison Square Garden.
Chappelle also has three Grammy’s under his belt, having won for The Age of Spin & Deep in the Heart of Texas, Equanimity & The Bird Revelation, and Sticks & Stones in 2018, 2019, and 2020.
This is the seventh nomination for Oswalt, who previously won in 2017 for Thank You For Clapping, and marks the seventh nomination for Gaffigan, who has never won. Randy Rainbow is the only first time nominee in the category.
The Grammy Awards air on February 5th, 2023 on CBS.
