How did you discover your passion for comedy:
Beyond discovering it to be a useful coping mechanism, making people laugh and consuming comedy is when I feel the most myself. But also once I farted during a silent moment in church and killed, and I’ve been chasing that high ever since.

What do you remember most about your first time performing stand-up comedy:
It was like riding a bike without a seat, hard but I knew I was going places.

How would you describe your comedic style:
Truthful, self-deprecating, storytelling, & physical.

Describe your process for comedic writing:
The best bits are usually experiences that happen to me and I’ll take that and write on stage, usually. I also like to riff with friends and have relaxed silly banter. The most I’ll get done from sitting and writing is usually a few tags or maybe a new angle.

Describe the comedy scene in your area:
Los Angeles is very competitive and dense with talent.

How do you judge success in the world of comedy:
Filing your taxes solely as: Comedian

Who are some of your comedic peers that you enjoy watching perform or inspire you personally and professionally:
Anyone that is serious and treats this as a career. People that are hungry, looking to grow, and taking risks.

What’s been your most memorable moment in comedy:
Probably that church fart.

@vancorona

What have you learned most from your failures in comedy:
Everything, the only way to learn is to fail. Most comedians start out with a bit of natural talent and think they can jump the line but comedy truly is a process takes time to develop. I respect the game and welcome the failures.

How do people react toward you when they realize that you can make people laugh:
They sh*t their pants and vomit.

Describe building a career in stand-up comedy:
Build a loyal audience, keep growing, and keep providing.

If you could change one thing in the world of comedy, what would it be:
Nothing.

Best advice you’ve ever received from a comedian:
Ali Wong told me “Just keep doing it, dumbass”

If you were releasing a comedy special this week, what would it be called:
“Sorry for Coming.”

Funniest encounter you’ve ever had with a celebrity:
Meeting Eric Wareheim, who created a character named Tayne (a name I’ve never seen or heard besides my own) played by Paul Rudd. I told Eric my name is Tayne and he asked for my photo. I asked where the inspiration for naming the character Tayne came from he said “We just thought it sounded funny.”

Weirdest place you’ve ever performed any form of comedy:
At a bdsm gay leather bar with porn on the tvs behind me.

@vancorona

A Tayne Morano Fun Fact:
I sleep on my back like a vampire.

Where would you like your laughs to take you:
Headliner, write and star in something (sketch or comedy series), podcast. I’d like to live comfortably as a comedian and be passed at all the clubs.

What would you tell a potential comedian if they ask you how they can own the laughs:
Just keep doing it, dumbass.

What are your thoughts on the future of comedy:
I’m hopeful, there is always a demand for comedy.

If you could write one episode for one classic TV sitcom which show would it be and give a brief detailed sentence on the episode:
Curb Your Enthusiasm, Larry’s friend dies while wearing his watch. He attempts to take it back at the wake.

If you could choose 1 comedy club and 3 comedians to perform with on your perfect comedy show, how would it go:
The Comedy Cellar with Joe List, Jessy Kirson, and Louis.

What’s next for you:
Getting a job/being passed at one of the major clubs in LA, featuring on the road, overall just getting better.

Why should a person always laugh at life:
Comedy is a lens through which we view trauma, it’s completely necessary.
