How did you discover your passion for comedy:
The moment I was born.

What do you remember most about your first time performing stand-up comedy:
Holding the microphone and tripping over the cord.

How would you describe your comedic style:
Raw and dark humor.

Describe your process for comedic writing:
I start by writing out the whole story or situation or topic first and then trip the far slowly over time until it’s solid with a punch line or two.

Describe the comedy scene in your area:
Friendly and inviting, everyone I’ve met along my career has been a huge blessing.

How do you judge success in the world of comedy:
I admire comics who are successful from not only a financial but as a whole and have a good heart, it’s important to be open and well rounded, especially when aspiring to be good role model for others to look up to. Always be true to yourself and your fans will follow.

Who are some of your comedic peers that you enjoy watching perform or inspire you personally and professionally:
Lisa Sundstedt and Lin Sun, both these women are not only amazing teachers and comics themselves but amazing individuals who I am lucky I get to call my people. Friends who push you to be better and help you improve your craft are the best gals to have in your corner. I am so grateful for these two women and the wonderful blessings they have given me. They both took a chance on me when I was fresh and new and I’m happy to say I haven’t disappointed them yet.

What’s been your most memorable moment in comedy:
First time performing in the belly room of The Comedy Store. Most surreal moment ever if it’s been your dream forever…

What have you learned most from your failures in comedy:
It’s about how you get back from the set back, not the set back itself. So you bomb…bombing is inevitable and it’s a lesson to learn how to adapt and improvise and not self deprecate on your mistakes or regrets.

How do people react toward you when they realize that you can make people laugh:
Most people assume I’m some type of entertainer because I’m so fun and loud. I just really like making jokes, especially when I’m anxious or nervous.

Describe building a career in stand-up comedy:
Build a good career and stand up. You need to be well rounded but also you need to really be a good sales person, with my background in sales, it was second nature but I can’t sweat this enough, selling yourself is key. Email that club, send your tape or your reel in, be eager and confident… worst thing that happens is you get left on read.

If you could change one thing in the world of comedy, what would it be:
The cancel culture, because comedy has changed so much since I was a kid, we used to just say whatever and now as a comic I do find myself sometimes wondering “ is that too much” and it’s wack, because it’s our own form of art.

Just look at the show the office, Michael Scott would be canceled so quick in todays world and that’s just crazy!

Best advice you’ve ever received from a comedian:
I was told once that I have a natural gift and to not worry about my future because I’m going places and as a newer comic that is music to my ears.

If you were releasing a comedy special this week, what would it be called:
“Family Traditions”

Funniest encounter you’ve ever had with a celebrity:
Marc Maron told me where the van was one time and I almost cried…

Weirdest place you’ve ever performed any form of comedy:
First show ever was at a church venue…and those Christiand laughed their asses offfffff.

A Remi Escobar Fun Fact:
I am a huge marvel fan, my dog’s name is Gambit…X-Men for life!!!

Where would you like your laughs to take you:
I just would like to be able to give back and really change the worlds view on mental health. I make a lot of my jokes about my own personal mental health struggles but I think it’s important for everyone to dive deep into that topic. Taking care of our minds are what keeps us sane and happy. Not saying that todays world problems would be gone but they would most certainly be easier to manage if we all were open and honest about the mental health crisis.

What would you tell a potential comedian if they ask you how they can own the laughs:
Just keep doing it, if you feel it’s your passion then pursue that shit until your blue in the face. Hard work does pay off.

What are your thoughts on the future of comedy:
I hope the cancel culture can take a back seat so comics can just enjoy their craft again.

If you could choose 1 comedy club and 3 comedians to perform with on your perfect comedy show, how would it go:
Lin Sun
Franck Juste
Jillian Baker
@ The Comedy Store (The Main Room)

What’s next for you:
The ADORABLES Dark Humor Show at Cali Kings Studios in Silver Lake May 6th 730pm.

Why should a person always laugh at life:
Because life is so much more fun when you’re laughing.
