My Ex-Friend’s Wedding, a new Amanda Seyfried comedy movie, has been delayed due to the ongoing writer’s strike.

Amanda Seyfried headlines the new ensemble comedy movie alongside Ariana DeBose, Megan Stalter, Liza Koshy, and Chloe Fineman.

This Sony Pictures film will be directed by Kay Cannon, who previously directed Blockers and Cinderella (2021) and wrote all three Pitch Perfect movies.

The film is written by Ashley Rodger and Taylor Jenkins Reid.

“I mean, we’ve got to collectively win these strikes, and then I can tell you something about it,” said Seyfried at the premiere of her new Apple TV+ series The Crowded Room. “But I can’t now because it’s way too funny, and we’re not shooting it right now.” She expressed anticipation about returning to a comedic role, saying, “Back to my roots, you know? I’m so excited.”

The film follows four childhood friends who receive a voicemail from their former best friend the night before her wedding. Drunk, she admits she’s making a mistake by tying the knot. The four friends go off on an adventure to stop the wedding and reunite with their former friend.

Seyfried’s next movie will be My Ex-Friend’s Wedding, but her next project will be The Crowded Room. This is a period psychological thriller miniseries starring Tom Holland, Seyfried, and Emmy Rossum. Seyfried plays Rya Goodwin, introduced in the trailer as an investigator interviewing the protagonist Danny Sullivan after he was arrested.

The first three episodes of The Crowded Room premiere on Apple TV+ on June 9, 2023.
