In 2023, the world of comedy saw the meteoric rise of Matt Rife, Jiaoying Summers, and Ralph Barbosa, but if you want a sneak peek at a comedian who’s on track for similar success heading into 2024, then look no further than the sensational Leslie Liao.
Capitalizing on her newfound worldwide popularity due in large part to her latest performance at marquee comedy festivals and late-night television, Liao would excite fans on social media with the announcement that she will be hitting the road as part of her NightTime Routine comedy tour.
The NightTime Routine tour will begin December 7th, 2023 in San Diego, CA, and is currently scheduled to conclude in mid-2024 on April 25th in Houston, TX. Throughout the U.S., Liao will be performing inside comedy clubs such as The American Comedy Co., Addison Improv, Punch Line San Francisco, and Stress Factory, along with an overseas appearance at The SoHo Theatre in London, UK.
Along with a photo featuring selected venues and dates, Leslie would joke with her fans, posting a video sarcastically showing gratitude for the request for more shows and dates in various areas around the country, ending the video with the ticket link information.
In the 33-second Instagram video, Leslie jokingly stated:
“Okay, you all are booty-calling me all over the damn place, and it’s working. Okay, I’m not playing hard to get; my guard is down, I’ve added more dates and more cities for you, for us, to have quality time. The Orange County, CA native’s comedy career has been moving fast-paced in the second half of 2023, beginning with the release of her Don’t Tell Comedy set in June. This would be followed by the announcement that Liao would be taking part in the New Faces of Comedy lineup at the 2023 Just For Laughs comedy festival in Montreal, Canada taking place in July.
Leslie would return from the festival to headlining performances at various marquee comedy clubs including the Ice House Comedy Club, Hollywood Improv, Westside Comedy Club, and The Comedy Store.
Known for her relatable, introspective, and matter-of-fact style of humor circling around her experiences as a single Chinese-American woman living in Los Angeles, this would catch the eye of former Saturday Night Live star Jimmy Fallon, as he recently hand-picked Leslie to make her late-night television debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
On the same day of late-night TV debut, it would also be announced that she would be a featured comedian on Netflix’s new stand-up comedy series titled Verified Stand-Up alongside other rising comedians, including Asif Ali, Dulcé Sloan, Gianmarco Soresi, Isiah Kelly, Nimesh Patel, Robby Hoffman, Rosebud Baker, Sabrina Wu, and Vanessa Gonzalez.
Verified Stand-Up is set to premiere on set to premiere globally on November 28th.
