The second season of Issa Rae‘s comedy series Rap Sh!t will be its last, as Deadline is reporting that Max has canceled the series following the conclusion of its second season.

The series — which recently saw its second season come to an end last month — is one of several series that were canceled by the streamer. In a statement regarding the move, a Max spokesperson thanked Issa Rae for creating the show, and praised the cast and crew behind the series.

“We are extremely grateful to Issa Rae for creating Rap Sh!t, a one-of-a-kind comedy with compelling social commentary that reached viewers in a way only Issa’s talents can accomplish,” read the statement. “A huge thank-you to Issa, showrunner Syreeta Singleton and the teams at Hoorae and 3 Arts Entertainment for introducing us to Shawna and Mia, a duo whose journey fans have been invested in and who they have continued to root for through everything. We’ll never get Seduce and Scheme out of our heads, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.”

“The comedy follows two estranged high school friends from Miami, Shawna and Mia, who reunite to form a rap group,” reads the logline. “Join Shawna and Mia as they try to make it in the rap scene all while staying true to themselves.”

Rap Sh!t starred Aida Osman, real-life artist KaMillion, Jonica Booth, Devon Terrell, and RJ Cyler. It is executive produced by Issa Rae and Montrel McKay (A Black Lady Sketch Show, Road Trippp) for HOORAE, as well as Jonathan Berry (Insecure) and Dave Becky (Master of None, Russian Dolls) for 3 Arts Entertainment, along with showrunner Syreeta Singleton, with Rae also writing the pilot.

Hip hop duo Yung Miami and JT of City Girls served as co-executive producers, along with Kevin “Coach K” Lee and Pierre “P” Thomas for Quality Control Films and Sara Rastogi for HOORAE. Rae’s audio content company Raedio will handle music supervision for the series.
