As a young girl Jess grew up in the heart of West Baltimore, with a loving family but was exposed to the struggles of the city.
Her parents wanting more for her pushed her out of her element and made her attend a college preparatory school where she no longer was the majority but the minority. At 19 yrs old, Jess became a mother trying to juggle the tough moments being a young mom while grasping the difficulties of childbirth as a black woman.
