Comedian Mike Birbiglia has set a documentary special at Peacock.

Titled “Good One: A Show About Jokes,” it premieres on March 26.

Adapted from the Vulture podcast “Good One: A Podcast About Jokes,” the special follows Birbiglia through his process as he travels from Providence, R.I. to Washington, D.C. while developing new comedy material based on truths from his personal life. Interviews and commentary from comedians including Seth Meyers, Hasan Minhaj and Atsuko Okatsuka are featured along the way.

Birbiglia is known for highly personal comedy. Writing about Birbiglia’s 2022 Broadway show “The Old Man and the Pool,” Variety critic Peter Debruge wrote, “There are joke comics and storytelling comics. Birbiglia is both. Over the course of his latest 75-minute monologue, Birbiglia digresses from time to time into what sounds like stand-up territory. But mostly, he aims less for sparking laugh-out-loud moments than for implanting those amusing observations that provide insight into our own lives, as when he shares “the first day I saw my dad as a real person” (in the hospital, post-heart attack) or the phone call to his mom in which a moment of unusual vulnerability was met with her typical sign-off: ‘Take care.’”

Netflix’s filmed version of “The Old Man and the Pool” earned Birbiglia a Critics Choice Award for best comedy special. His other specials for Netflix include 2013’s “My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend,” 2017’s “Thank God for Jokes” and 2019’s “The New One.” Birbiglia also hosts the comedy podcast “Working It Out.”

In 2012, Birbiglia wrote, directed and starred in the film “Sleepwalk With Me,” with other acting credits including “A Man Called Otto,” “Inside Amy Schumer,” “Girls” and “The Fault in Our Stars.”

“Good One: A Show About Jokes” is produced by Vox Media Studios with Vulture, Sethmaker Shoemeyers Productions, Eddie Schmidt Productions and Universal Television Alternative Studio. Eddie Schmidt directs the special and serves as executive producer with Jesse David Fox, who hosts the “Good One” podcast for Vulture, as well as Scoop Wasserstein, Pam Wasserstein, Meyers, Mike Shoemaker and Jason Carden. Austin Flack and Jyllian Gunther co-executive produce and Sarit G. Work and Maggie Contreras serve as producers.
