Recently releasing his debut comedy special that caught fire in late 2024, this rising star has also appeared as a featured performer at high-profile comedy festivals, including Skankfest and the NYCF. As part of We Own The Laughs.com’s Comedian of the Day, have a few laughs and get to know comedian Chris Faga. How did you discover your passion for comedy:
My dad showed me Alan King when I was a kid. I didn’t even know this could be a job.

What do you remember most about your first time performing stand-up comedy:
I did ok but then didn’t do it again for 6 years. Then bombed for a year straight.

Describe your process for comedic writing:
I like to get lunch with my buddy who’s simply a good laugher. I interject some premises and riff. That’s my jumping-off point.

Describe the comedy scene in your area:
New York is competitive.

How do you judge success in the world of comedy:
Are you having fun, making some money and it isn’t hurting the rest of your life? You’re doing it.

Who are some of your comedic peers that you enjoy watching perform or inspire you personally and professionally:
Ryan Long, Luis J Gomez, & Zac Amico

What’s been your most memorable moment in comedy:
I hosted /ring announced a comedy/wrestling event at the final Skankfest in Brooklyn.

What have you learned most from your failures in comedy:
No one remembers a week later.

How do people react toward you when they realize that you can make people laugh:
Anyone can make people laugh. Who on this planet is completely humorless?

If you could change one thing in the world of comedy, what would it be:
There is less emphasis on social media and networking.

Best advice you’ve ever received from a comedian:
You might wanna zip your fly before you go up there.

If you were releasing a comedy special this week, what would it be called:
I just released one called “Burn After Saying”

Funniest encounter you’ve ever had with a celebrity:
Lil Fame from M.O.P. threatened me at a gas station.

Weirdest place you’ve ever performed any form of comedy:
The desert outside Los Lunas, New Mexico.

I won the NYC Pickle Day Best Pickled Pickle competition in 2017.

Where would you like your laughs to take you:
Make a living & save for retirement. Build a big enough audience so I don’t have to edit videos or run social media accounts.

What would you tell a potential comedian if they ask you how they can own the laughs:
No one owns laughs.

What are your thoughts on the future of comedy:
Gonna be more and more people trying it, and it’s gonna be harder and harder to break through as entertainment becomes more and more niche.

If you could write an episode for ONE classic TV sitcom, which show would it be:
I’d do an episode of Seinfeld where they go to a Diddy party.

What’s next for you:
I’m putting out a comic book anthology this year.

What? You wanna be sad?
