Amazon announced on Wednesday that A Different Animal, its first stand-up comedy special from comedian Iliza Shlesinger, is set to premiere on Prime Video on March 11.
We were first to tell you about Shlesinger’s deal with Prime Video for a new special back in April. In her new hour, taped at the Eccles Theater in Salt Lake City in November, as part of her The Get Ready Tour, the comedian covers topics ranging from shower sex, ugly wives and the ideal man to the truth about the ONE thing no woman wants.
For Shlesinger, A Different Animal comes on the heels of six specials for Netflix, the most recent being 2022’s Hot Forever. One of today’s leading comics, she also created and starred in her own sketch series for the streamer, in addition to writing, exec producing and starring in the film Good on Paper, which is available on the service. Other past screen credits include Instant Family, Spenser Confidential, Pieces of a Woman, the limited-run talk show Truth & Iliza for Freeform, and Forever 31, the digital series she created and starred in for ABC Digital.
The only female and youngest comedian to hold the title of NBC’s Last Comic Standing, Shlesinger will be wrapping up her Get Ready Tour this spring, with her 2025 tour to be announced soon. She exec produced A Different Animal alongside her manager Kara Baker, David Martin, and Jackie Stolfi, with Amazon MGM Studios and Avalon producing.
