How did you discover your passion for comedy:
I was 6 years old. My parents are Pentecostal pastors, so we weren’t able to watch any comedy. When they’d go to bed, I would sneak into the living room and watch Saturday Night Live every single Saturday. And would watch Adam Sandler movies. Jim Carrey and Chris Farley introduced me to comedy at the age of 6.

What do you remember most about your first time performing stand-up comedy:
I was nervous, didn’t know what I was doing. I was hosting a show. And got comics names wrong. And it was just a message.

How would you describe your comedic style:
Storytelling. Edgy. On the line, but not over.

Describe your process for comedic writing:
I pull from my personal life and find ways to make it funny. I always stop what I’m doing and take notes so I don’t forget.

Describe the comedy scene in your area:
We have one really good club, but that’s about it. I travel around a lot to do shows.

How do you judge success in the world of comedy:
When my jokes are getting better, when people are laughing at every show I do, the quality of the show goes up, and the quantity of shows goes up.

Who are some of your comedic peers that you enjoy watching perform or inspire you personally and professionally:
Jason Rennebu, PJ Dullard, Donna Lee, Ernest Evans, & Elyssa Phillips

What’s been your most memorable moment in comedy:
Getting to perform a comedy song I wrote for 250 people after my set is a highlight.

What have you learned most from your failures in comedy:
Don’t compare yourself to everyone. You be you.

How do people react toward you when they realize that you can make people laugh:
They seem happy and excited and want to hang around me.

Describe building a career in stand-up comedy:
I want to reach a point where I’m able to do comedy full-time and pay all my bills and expenses for my family. I want to tour all over the country doing comedy.

If you could change one thing in the world of comedy, what would it be:
I would want to be people more unified in comedy. More working together.

Best advice you’ve ever received from a comedian:
Always be more clever than offensive.

If you were releasing a comedy special this week, what would it be called:
“Nut to Butt”

Funniest encounter you’ve ever had with a celebrity:
I gave Pink a menthol cigarette at a hotel back patio and tried to give her a music demo CD, and she gave it back to me.

Weirdest place you’ve ever performed any form of comedy:
A Bagel Shop.

A Michael Morgan Fun Fact:
I use to be a signed Christian music artist. I am a giant sci-fi superhero nerd.

Where would you like your laughs to take you:
As far as they can. I want to be touring the world doing comedy and making enough to live comfortably with my family and pay bills. I want to go all over the world with comedy. And write and create comedy TV Series.

What would you tell a potential comedian if they ask you how they can own the laughs:
Just be yourself because that’s who people want to see. Don’t ever think that you can’t learn from the people around you. Always be listening!

What are your thoughts on the future of comedy:
I am excited to see where it takes us, and I want to be a big part of the future of comedy.

If you could write an episode for ONE classic TV sitcom, which show would it be:
Boy meets world. The episode where Cory and Topanga get married. The comedy in that show was ahead of its time.

If you could choose ONE comedy club and THREE comedians to perform with on your perfect comedy show, how would it go:
The Comedy Store – Jason Rennebu, PJ Dullard, & Donna Lee.

What’s next for you:
Continuing to book and perform shows. Working on new material. As well as recording a musical comedy single to release. Working on more Sketch comedy.

Why should a person always laugh at life:
Because it helps take the sting out of life.
