Unfiltered, uncensored, and unapologetically fun—staying true to Riot’s mission of showcasing real, raw comedy.

With a brand of comedy too big to be contained in one space, one of Texas’ premier comedy clubs has decided to venture into a new territory.

Riot Comedy Club, a popular name in the stand-up comedy scene, is expanding its reach with the grand opening of a new location in San Antonio, Texas. Known for its edgy, high-energy shows and strong support of up-and-coming comedians, Riot Comedy Club is bringing its signature brand of live entertainment to the Alamo City.

Announced in a highly publicized post on their formal Instagram profile, Riot Riverwalk Comedy Club will tentatively open its doors in October 2025.

Located at 400 E Houston St under The Maverick Hotel, Riot Riverwalk will feature a 100-seat, state-of-the-art comedy showroom with in-seat drink ordering, a curated snack menu including candy, chips, and popcorn with The Riot’s signature seasoning, and a full cocktail, wine, and beer menu. Patrons can expect the same top-tier performances that helped Riot build its reputation, now in the heart of San Antonio’s vibrant nightlife. The club will feature weekly shows, comedy open mics, and special events, offering both seasoned comedy fans and newcomers a space to laugh, unwind, and discover new voices.

“We’re excited to bring The Riot’s unique comedy experience to San Antonio,” said Brian Gendron, co-founder of Riot Comedy Club. “The Riverwalk is the perfect backdrop for what we do—fun, electric, and full of energy. This will be a space where locals and visitors alike can discover great stand-up comedy every week.”

Founded in 2020 in Houston by award-winning entrepreneur and comedian Brian Gendron, The Riot has become a cultural force in Texas comedy. Since its inception, The Riot has produced more than 2,300 live shows, including the annual 4-day Riot Comedy Festival in Houston, Texas, which draws national talent, industry professionals, and thousands of fans each spring.

In addition to providing world-class entertainment, Riot Riverwalk is committed to serving the local community. Through its nonprofit initiative Haha Comedy Academy (hahaforhope.org), The Riot will work with San Antonio middle and high school students to teach the art of writing, performing, and producing live comedy, culminating in student showcases where participants perform live on stage in front of a real audience.

Tickets for opening weekend and early show schedules will be available at the Riot Riverwalk Comedy Club Official Website.

Whether you’re a die-hard comedy lover or just looking for something different to do on the weekend, Riot Comedy Club’s new San Antonio location is set to become a major destination for live entertainment.
