Comedian Matt McCusker on Monday announced A Humble Offering, his debut Netflix special, which is set to premiere on Tuesday, October 7th.
Directed by Tyler Falbo (of Almost Friday fame), McCusker’s new hour sees him offer perspective on the homelessness crisis, race relations, and best practices for seducing his wife. The special is produced by Rotten Science, as well as Becky Astphan and Natalya Yonathan, who rep the comic at Range Media Partners.
The project deepens McCusker’s ties to Netflix amid his work alongside longtime friend and collaborator Shane Gillis on Tires, the hit Netflix comedy series heading into its third season.
Nicknamed “The Shaman,” McCusker is a comedian, novelist, and actor from Philadelphia who self-released his first special, The Speed of Light, in 2023. That hour takes on topics like masculinity, wellness, and relationships and quickly amassed almost four million views on YouTube alone.
McCusker first crossed paths with Gillis in Philly in the early 2010s. Currently, the pair co-host the hit comedy show Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast, the number one Patreon pod in the world, which continues to dominate the charts with over 5.5 million downloads monthly, consistently ranking in the Top 15 for Spotify, when it comes to comedy. Recently, the duo recently set a partnership with Spotify, through which they’re bringing video episodes of the pod to their platform.
In addition to Tires, McCusker has been seen stealing scenes opposite Gillis in the hit web series Gilly & Keeves. In August, he launched The Papa John Paradox, an animated short marking the first in a new series helmed by Big Mouth‘s Frank Gidlewski, for which he himself has served as writer, producer, and star. Also an author, McCusker’s debut novel, Overlook: A Story About Drugs, Disappointment, and the American Dream — a satirical and unflinching look at a blue-collar community in the throes of a missing person case — was received with acclaim.
He’s developing his next book project now and is repped by CAA and Yorn, Levine, Barnes, as well as the aforementioned Range.
