How did you discover your passion for comedy:
As a kid, I would watch stand-up specials and Just For Laughs tapings, on comedy central in my basement.

What do you remember most about your first time performing stand-up comedy:
It was actually a competition show with 13 (too many) different acts. I was #12 in the line up, and the show was not going well. Before going up, I overheard an older comic say, “Poor kid is about to go up and bomb his first show.”, and then I ended up winning and moving on to the next round.

How would you describe your comedic style:
Pristinely crafted juvenility. (I got that in a fringe review once, and have used it ever since)

Describe your process for comedic writing:
Lots of lists, brain webs and crumpled papers.

Describe the comedy scene in your area:
Supportive and Hardworking!

How do you judge success in the world of comedy:
If I’m making something that I am happy with, I’m successful! (I’m so poor.)

Who are some of your comedic peers that you enjoy watching perform or inspire you personally and professionally:
Mike Rita, Ava Val, Tamara Shevon, Paul Thompson, and there are way more, but i don’t want the list to be too long for everyone to go check their content!

What’s been your most memorable moment in comedy:
Recording my new special!

What have you learned most from your failures in comedy:
Everything! None of my jokes would work as well as they do if I didn’t try all the bad tags first. I can only learn from the mistakes that I make!

How do people react toward you when they realize that you can make people laugh:
I’m pretty timid when I’m not on stage or around friends. So, new people would probably be surprised, but anybody who’s known me for a while, isn’t usually that surprised!

Describe building a career in stand-up comedy:
Long and arduous. But, it’s also exciting and fun!

If you could change one thing in the world of comedy, what would it be:
I believe it’s not technically considered an artform by the government of Canada. So, I would change that!

Best advice you’ve ever received from a comedian:
Smile!

If you were releasing a comedy special this week, what would it be called:
I did last week! And it’s called, “Kaleidoscope”

Funniest encounter you’ve ever had with a celebrity:
During Covid, I ran a show out of my backyard. My friend was barking to get some people in to watch, and he ended up barking at Mae Martin! Who came in and just watched the show! I didn’t even know until after they sent me a nice message about it, and I felt like a fool for not putting them up!

Weirdest place you’ve ever performed any form of comedy:
I once did five minutes in the backyard of a very rich male stripper.

An Evan Dubois Fun Fact:
I LOVE LACROSSE! And it’s okay if I’m the only one.

Where would you like your laughs to take you:
I would obviously love to make another special, But, if the next one was on a huge streaming service, that would be amazing!

What would you tell a potential comedian if they ask you how they can own the laughs:
Be the funny that comes to you naturally!

What are your thoughts on the future of comedy:
I hope comedians keep getting smarter and not the other way around.

If you could write an episode for ONE classic TV sitcom, which show would it be:
It’s probably too new to be considered a classic, but I’d love to write an episode of Brooklyn 99. The backstreet boys cold open is hilarious, so I think it’d be fun to do an entire musical episode!

If you could choose ONE comedy club and THREE comedians to perform with on your perfect comedy show, how would it go:
Danforth Music Hall with Bo Burnham, Demetri Martin, & Mike Birbiglia!

What’s next for you:
On to the next special!

Why should a person always laugh at life:
Because the alternative is feeling something else in response to life. Laughter is the best feeling, so you might as well pick that one!
