Detroit-bred comedian Brad Wenzel returns with his newest stand-up comedy special, Desperate Times, now streaming on YouTube.
Filmed at The Independent Comedy Club inside Planet Ant Theater, the special captures Wenzel in an intimate setting that perfectly complements his uniquely understated, quirky comedic style.
A product of the Detroit comedy scene, Wenzel spent seven years honing his craft in Los Angeles before continuing to build a national following over the past 15 years, performing in 38 states. Known for his laid-back delivery and unconventional punchlines, Wenzel has become a favorite among comedy fans who appreciate humor that’s both unpredictable and deeply relatable.
Wenzel’s impressive resume includes three stand-up appearances on CONAN, as well as recent performances on Netflix Is A Joke Radio and Don’t Tell Comedy. His 2017 debut comedy album, Sweet Nothings, was released on Jack White’s Third Man Records and continues to reach audiences through SiriusXM.
Critically, Wenzel has earned high praise for his work, particularly with his 2023 special joke. joke. joke., which Paste Magazine described as “Watching Wenzel feels like hanging out with your funniest, weirdest friend; it’s relaxing and utterly enjoyable.” The publication also named the special one of the 20 best comedy specials of the year.
