My brother, when I was 17, encouraged me to give it a try, and it planted a seed.

I remember being nervous but excited!

I feel like you will never know what you’re going to get with me. Sometimes I stand there and deliver jokes, and then I’m doing an act out! Lots of fun!

Describe your process for comedic writing:
I like to try to remember my life experiences and find the humor in any of them.
Describe the comedy scene in your area:
I’m in LA, so the comedy scene is pretty big, but it’s fun! It’s a community, and I’m grateful to be a part of it!
How do you judge success in the world of comedy:
I don’t judge success in the comedy world, like if you’re a comedian and you feel like you’re doing the right thing, nothing else matters.
Who are some of your comedic peers that you enjoy watching perform or inspire you personally and professionally:
I have lots of friends that I’m like wow they’re killin it! Specifically, my brother, Rene Vaca, is easily one of them, as well as Concrete, Malik B, Doknow, and my brother, who passed away not too long ago, Ken Flores, who still inspires me today.
What’s been your most memorable moment in comedy:
I can’t really pin point my most memorable moment I have many but I’m definitely grateful for how far I’ve come.

What have you learned most from your failures in comedy:
I learned that it’s important to be yourself up there, no matter what.
How do people react toward you when they realize that you can make people laugh:
I’m not sure how to answer that, but I hope they smile (Laughs)
Describe building a career in stand-up comedy:
It’s like starting your own business, and you’re the product.
If you could change one thing in the world of comedy, what would it be:
I’m not sure, to be honest.
Best advice you’ve ever received from a comedian:
Just go up there and have fun!

If you were releasing a comedy special this week, what would it be called:
Haven’t thought of it. (Laughs)
Funniest encounter you’ve ever had with a celebrity:
I’m not sure I have one yet, but I’ve had plenty of fun moments.
Weirdest place you’ve ever performed any form of comedy:
A barbershop with no stage light and no stage, but honestly had the most fun!
A Arturo Vaca Fun Fact:
I was named after my dad, who is currently in prison, but yeah, we have the same exact name, no middle name.
Where would you like your laughs to take you:
Ultimately, I’ve always been fascinated with film and acting, so hopefully somewhere along those lines.
What would you tell a potential comedian if they ask you how they can own the laughs:
Don’t be somebody you are not, just be yourself.

What are your thoughts on the future of comedy:
I feel like comedy is doing amazing right now, especially with all the social media platforms out there.
If you could write an episode for ONE classic TV sitcom, which show would it be:
I would love to write an episode of Boy Meets World.
If you could choose ONE comedy club and THREE comedians to perform with on your perfect comedy show, how would it go:
The Hollywood Laugh Factory w/ René Vaca, Ken Flores, and Ralph Barbosa.
What’s next for you:
I have a lot of plans and goals I’m trying to achieve, but I do have a show every month at the Laugh Factory in Hollywood, it’s called “Vaca FLOCKA”, anyone is invited!
Why should a person always laugh at life:
Because life is too short.
