Emil Wakim Announces Debut Netflix Comedy Special

SNL alum Emil Wakim has inked a deal to bring his first full-length comedy special to Netflix.

A premiere date has not yet been disclosed. Wakim will tape the hour in October.

The news comes as Wakim is scheduled to perform as part of the platform’s Netflix Is a Joke festival, with his showcase set for Wednesday, May 6 at the new Pacific Electric venue in Downtown L.A.’s Chinatown district.

No logline for the for the special was issued. It’ll be executive produced by Matthew Vaughan for Rotten Science.

A stand-up comedian, actor, and writer, Wakim made history in 2024 as the first Lebanese American to be cast in Saturday Night Live, performing as a featured cast member during the landmark Season 50, with frequent appearances on Weekend Update.

Prior to his time on the sketch series, Wakim taped sets for Don’t Tell Comedy and Comedy Central Stand-Up Featuring, with his stand-up also featured on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Based in Brooklyn, the comedian was named a New Face at Just for Laughs Montreal in 2022. He’ll be seen in A24’s upcoming comedy Peaked from Molly Gordon and Allie Levitan.
