Stand-up comedian Shane Gillis has officially etched his name into comedy history after setting two new Guinness World Records during his sold-out performance at Lincoln Financial Field on July 17.
According to Guinness World Records adjudicator Andy Glass, Gillis sold an astounding 76,212 tickets for his hometown stadium performance, officially establishing the Guinness World Record for Most Tickets Sold for a Solo Comedy Show. The newly recognized category debuts with Gillis setting the benchmark after surpassing the minimum qualifying total of 54,000 tickets.
As thousands packed the home of the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles, Gillis also claimed a second Guinness World Record for the Largest Audience for a Solo Comedy Performance. An officially verified attendance of 73,946 fans surpassed the previous record of 67,733, set by German comedian Mario Barth during his performance at Berlin’s Olympiastadion on July 12, 2008.

The historic evening marks a milestone not only for Gillis but for stand-up comedy as a whole. While Guinness World Records has long tracked attendance records, the organization recently introduced ticket sales as a separate achievement, making Gillis the inaugural record holder in the category.
The performance also arrives months after Japanese comedian and actress Naomi Watanabe established the Guinness World Record for Most Tickets Sold for a Solo Female Comedy Show, selling 44,356 tickets at the Tokyo Dome on February 11, 2026.
For Gillis, the accomplishment carries added significance. A Pennsylvania native and lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan, he has frequently celebrated his hometown pride throughout his career. Performing before nearly 74,000 fans inside Lincoln Financial Field represented the largest show of his career and served as the crowning achievement of an extraordinary touring run.
The record-breaking performance continues Gillis’ remarkable rise as one of comedy’s biggest live attractions. Alongside his sold-out arena and theater tour, he recently hosted Netflix’s Roast of Kevin Hart, further cementing his place among the entertainment industry’s premier comedic voices.
With two Guinness World Records now attached to his name, Shane Gillis has set a new standard for what is possible in live stand-up comedy, delivering a landmark performance that will be remembered as one of the defining moments in the history of the art form.
