Father-son bonding goes hilariously wrong when Owen Wilson loses his 13-year-old son at Rolling Loud in his latest comedy.
“Rolling Loud The Movie” stars Wilson as “A by-the-book dad trying way too hard to be a cool dad” who takes his teenage son to the hip hop festival and promptly loses track of him.
“What starts as a bonding weekend instantly spirals out of control, when he loses his son in a sea of thousands. Swept through mosh pits, backstage chaos, and a city of sound he links up with unhinged wildcards played by Matt Rife, Christine Ko and the raw, unpredictable energy of Sexyy Red, Ty Dolla $ign, and Ski Mask the Slump God,” the synopsis reads, adding, “Every choice gets worse, every moment gets louder and there’s no easy way out.”
The story is actually inspired by writer and director Jeremy Garelick’s own experience at Rolling Loud with his teenager.
For those not in the know, Rolling Loud, founded in 2015 by childhood friends and Miami natives, Matt Zingler and Tariq Cherif (9x Billboard Hip-Hop Power Players), “was born out of a flourishing South Florida hip-hop community that the pair cultivated through years of concert promotions. In a time where live hip-hop wasn’t being taken seriously by the pop music machine, Rolling Loud shattered expectations from the jump – prompting expansion at an unprecedented rate from Miami to Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Australia within 5 years and to Portugal, The Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Toronto, Thailand and India within 10 years. Rightfully named the World’s Largest Hip-Hop Festival, Rolling Loud has evolved into a 360 lifestyle brand admired by fans, artists and brands alike for its authenticity and innovation. More than a festival, Rolling Loud is a cultural force – cultivating hip-hop culture around the world and making history in the process,” according to a press statement.”
“Rolling Loud The Movie” is in theaters October 2.
