The international comedy star tackles divorce, dating, bizarre arguments, fan encounters and the absurdities of everyday life in her latest stand-up special.
Internationally acclaimed comedian Urzila Carlson is bringing her unmistakable wit, fearless honesty and hilarious perspective to audiences everywhere with her comedy special, You Don’t Say, now streaming on YouTube.
Known for transforming everyday frustrations and deeply personal experiences into laugh-out-loud comedy, Carlson delivers a wide-ranging set filled with brutally funny observations about relationships, life after divorce and the increasingly strange world around her.
Throughout You Don’t Say, Carlson opens up about her dating life and the aftermath of her divorce, finding plenty of comedy in the relationships that didn’t quite make it. That includes recounting some of the ridiculous arguments that can somehow become serious enough to derail a romance — including one unforgettable disagreement surrounding the anatomy of a belly button.
Carlson also explores the unusual side of being a recognizable comedian, including the growing number of fans who want her autograph somewhere considerably more permanent than a piece of paper. From people asking her to sign their bodies to the possibility of those signatures eventually becoming tattoos, Carlson finds herself questioning how much responsibility a comedian should really have for somebody else’s permanent life decisions.
It’s exactly the kind of territory Carlson thrives in. Personal without becoming sentimental and observational without holding back, You Don’t Say showcases her ability to take uncomfortable situations, strange human behavior and life’s most awkward moments and turn them into stories audiences immediately recognize.
With her sharp delivery, candid storytelling and willingness to say what everyone else may only be thinking, Carlson continues to demonstrate why she has built an international following and become one of comedy’s most distinctive voices.
