Melissa McCarthy was one of many high-profile actors to star in the 2011 comedy Bridesmaids.
If it were up to her, however, she would star in Bridesmaids 2 immediately.
Speaking to People Magazine, McCarthy was asked about the possibility of a sequel to the hit comedy, to which the actress said she would do it today if she had the chance.
“I would do a Bridesmaids sequel this afternoon, right now,” McCarthy said. “That group of women was the most magical thing ever. Almost all of us were really good friends already. I think it was such a magical time.”
McCarthy went on to note that even if the cast were “all in our nineties and [writers] Kristen [Wiig] and Annie [Mumolo] are like, ‘Should we team back up?’ I’d be like, ‘Yes. Yeah, we should.’”
Alongside McCarthy, the 2011 hit featured an all-star cast of comedic talents, including Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Ellie Kemper, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Chris O’Down, Rebel Wilson, and Jon Hamm.
The film followed the story of Wiig’s Annie Walker, who is asked to be the maid of honor at her best friend Lillian’s (Rudolph) wedding. Bridesmaids was a massive success, earning more than $300 million at the box office and also earning McCarthy an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
