Netflix has revealed the start date for its B-ball comedy starring Kate Hudson and Brenda Song.
The series about a Jeanie Buss-like woman (Hudson) who takes over as president of a Los Angeles basketball team will premiere Feb. 27. Expect 10 episodes of the comedy from Mindy Kaling, Ike Barinholtz and David Stassen, who is the showrunner.
Here’s the official logline: When a scandal forces her brother to resign, Isla Gordon (Kate Hudson) is appointed president of the Los Angeles Waves, one of the most storied professional basketball franchises, and her family business. Ambitious and often overlooked, Isla will have to prove to her skeptical brothers, the board, and the larger sports community that she was the right choice for the job.
The series also stars Brenda Song, Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Fabrizio Guido, Toby Sandeman, Chet Hanks and Jay Ellis. There’s also a guest spot or two featuring the likes of Max Greenfield and Justin Theroux.
Other EPs are Hudson, Howard Klein (3 Arts Entertainment), Buss and Linda Rambis.
The series is produced by Mindy Kaling’s Kaling International in association with Warner Bros. Television, where Kaling is under an overall deal.
Running Point is set to premiere on Feb. 27th.
