The Zimbabwean comedian turns culture shock, identity, family, and life in America into comedy in his latest special, now streaming on YouTube.
Comedian Learnmore Jonasi brings his unique global perspective to the stage in his comedy special, Whose Lion Is It Anyway?, now streaming on YouTube.
Known for his animated storytelling, infectious personality, and ability to find humor in cultural differences, Jonasi reflects on his journey from Zimbabwe to the United States, transforming the adjustments, misunderstandings, and surprises of starting a new life into hilarious observations.
Throughout Who Lion Is It Anyway?, Jonasi explores what happens when two dramatically different worlds collide. Drawing from his experiences with family, education, social interactions, and American culture, he examines the everyday moments that made him question what he thought he knew—and occasionally wonder what Americans were thinking.
Rather than simply telling jokes about culture shock, Jonasi uses his experiences to explore the complicated and often funny realities of identity. His perspective as a Zimbabwean navigating life in America gives audiences a chance to see familiar customs through completely different eyes, turning everything from conversations and relationships to social expectations into comedic territory.
At the center of the special is Jonasi’s gift for storytelling. Personal memories become larger-than-life adventures as he moves between his upbringing in Zimbabwe and his experiences in the United States, highlighting both the enormous differences and unexpected similarities between the two cultures.
The result is a comedy special that feels both deeply personal and universally relatable. Whether discussing family expectations, adapting to new environments, or simply trying to understand the people around him, Jonasi proves that some of the funniest moments happen when we’re forced outside everything we consider normal.
Who Lion Is It Anyway? showcases why Learnmore Jonasi has emerged as one of comedy’s most exciting international voices, bringing a perspective to the stage that is distinctly his own.
