There’s surges in COVID-19 cases happening all over the world right now, and late-night television is clearly no exception. Jimmy Fallon announced that he tested positive for COVID over the holidays, though it never affected the production schedule of the show. Then on Tuesday, Seth Meyers tested positive for COVID, canceling shows for the entire week. And now, James Corden has announced he too has gotten COVID and has to cancel some shows.

“I just tested positive for COVID 19,” Corden wrote on Instagram. “I’m fully vaccinated, boosted, and because of this, am fortunate enough to say I feel completely fine. The show will be off the air for the next few days.”

A programming schedule released by CBS on Thursday indicated that “The Late Late Show,” which is recorded in Los Angeles, would air repeat broadcasts starting Thursday night and running through Jan. 17.

Broadway, television and film star James Corden takes over the reins of the late-late-night franchise at CBS from fellow U.K. import Craig Ferguson. The British performer — whose previous hosting gigs include five years of The Brit Awards — puts his charm, warmth and creative instincts to use as he interviews celebrities and newsmakers, and hosts musical performances in his post-“Late Show” time slot.

“Saturday Night Live,” which like “The Tonight Show” and “Late Night” is produced at NBC’s headquarters in New York, ran its 2021 year-end episode without a studio audience, a musical guest or many of its cast members amid concerns about Covid. NBC said on Thursday that “S.N.L.” will resume live episodes on Jan. 15.
