A hilarious win for the sneakerheads.
Amazon has unveiled the official trailer for Fairfax, an adult animated comedy series following the misadventures of four teen best friends on a never-ending quest for clout.
The show stars Skyler Gisondo (Licorice Pizza), Kiersey Clemons (Dope), Peter S. Kim (Spies in Disguise), and Jaboukie Young-White (C’mon C’mon) — and features the likes of Billy Porter, Zoey Deutch, Camila Mendes, Rob Delaney, Yvette Nicole Brown, Ben Schwartz, JB Smoove, John Leguizamo, and Colton Dunn, among others, in guest roles.
Fairfax offers a satirical play on the young, new wave of the sneakerhead/streetwear community, while also capturing the very essence of hype culture — inclusive of the fashion, music, and pop culture that intertwines it all together. The hilarious series pokes fun at hype culture in silly and absurd ways that ultimately showcase the impact among younger generations. Fairfax plays on Gen Z hot topics including cancel culture, social media etiquette, social media activists, clout chasing, and sneaker obsessions.
Longtime friends Matthew Hausfater, Aaron Buchsbaum, and Teddy Riley created the series and exec produced with Jon Zimelis and Jason U. Nadler for Serious Business (@midnight); Peter A. Knight (Bojack Horseman); and Chris Prynoski, Ben Kalina, and Antonio Cannobio for Titmouse (Big Mouth). Artist Somehoodlum designed the characters and serves as a consulting producer alongside pop/internet culture clothing and media brand Pizzaslime.
Amazon has given a two-season, 16-episode order to the half-hour series, which is slated to premiere on Amazon Prime Video, in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide, on October 29.
