Gear up Calgary, something amazing is about to hit YYC on June 24-26. And you’ll have your mind blown away (metaphorically, of course). The said phenomenon happens to be Canada’s only comedy festival to bring together comedy legends and local artists on one stage. Enter: The Great Outdoors Comedy Festival.

Now more than ever, people need to laugh, people need an escape, people need to be together again. The vision of The Great Outdoors Comedy Festival is and will always be to create a diverse, inclusive and safe festival experience that celebrates and features all forms of performance comedy, from locals to superstars. The festival aims to be an important piece of the comedy landscape for many years to come.

If you’re wondering where you’ve heard this name, allow us to remind you. The festival premiered last year in Edmonton. And after what was easily a huge success, it’s back for its second year. Fortunately for us, it is finally coming to Calgary.

The 3-day festival will go on from June 24-26 at Prince’s Island Park and August 12-14 at Racetrack Infield in Edmonton, AB.

Now here’s the most exciting part− the folks at GOCF recently announced their star-studded lineup for the event. The opening night will see legends like David Spade, Whitney Cummings and Donnell Rawlings grab the mic. Plus a special performance by The Kinkonauts. And Sunday we will see the iconic stand-up comedian, Bill Burr take the stage for his Slight Return tour.

Amy Schumer’s self-titled show will hit the stage at the Edmonton Exhibition Lands on Saturday, Aug. 13, and the Stiff Socks podcast team of Trevor Wallace and Michael Blausteinwill record an episode with Pete Davidson, Ricky Velez, and Maddy Smith live on Aug. 14.

The festival also has VIP tickets, as can be expected of a festival of this scale. Imagine sitting upfront with your gang laughing and having fun at your own damn table while enjoying food and drinks served at the table. That is the VIP experience for you. You can book tables for 4 and 6.

While these starry acts sure are a highlight, the fest is all about bringing local talent forward. You can catch some of the best local comedians here. Talking of local comedians, Trixstar will also be donating $2 from every ticket to The Kinkonauts Scholarship Program.
